Usually, I don't blog because I don't think I have anything particularly interesting going on.

Seriously, does anyone want to read about my mentally ill next-door neighbor with 7 cats, whose apartment smells like a slaughterhouse in Summer though his closed front door? And do people really want me to go on and on about the co-dependent, bi-polar cat lady who basically runs my neighbor's life, depositing "rescued" cat after cat into his place against his will? You know, the woman who couldn't even hold on to a part-time job at the local Salvation Army? The one who I somehow manage to cross paths with every single time I enter or leave my building? Is there any value in writing about this evil, dried-up little witch who is so sickeningly fake-sweet to all the other tenants — setting herself up as some kind of Section 8 Mother Theresa who works SO HARD to catch all the stray cats in the neighborhood — but once she's in my mentally ill neighbor's apartment transforms into a raging, evil scumbag monster that makes Mommie Dearest look like Mrs. Butterworth? And is there any joy in reading about how she knows that I have her number, and actually tries to stare me down when she sees me, and how I laugh in her ugly little ratface?

Maybe.

But this post is about GOOD THINGS. Things that have happened to me recently. For example:

- I recently shot 2 commercials in 2 months. One, a national commercial for Humira, will start airing in September. I'm the guy in the abormally long shorts and a hoodie, goofing around with a baskteball. Humira is a drug that somehow treats not only rheumatoid arthritis, but severe psoriasis as well. I'm in the psoriasis commercial (don't worry; I don't really have it!)

The second commercial is for Cablevision. I play a contractor who owns his own business. There was a lot of improv so it was really fun to shoot and I think it's going to be a good spot. That one should start airing in a month or so in the New York tri-state area. I'll post them both online when I get copies.

- I hosted a fundraiser benefit show last week for Park Slope Films. It was to raise money to help finish the film I'm in, have a premiere, and enter it into festivals. During the benefit, we got to see 2 scenes from the film, edited and finished. And they looked great. They were funny and tight and the footage looked really good. It was exciting to see and I can't wait to see the whole film put together. And it looks like the title is going to be "Apostles of Park Slope," which was created by yours truly. I also came up with the concept for the image for the poster and DVD cover, and the whole cast got together for a photoshoot a few weeks ago. I art directed it, and Ray Chin, the DP for the film, shot it on a digital camera that was so expensive I was afraid to even look at it.
When the poster is done, I'll, well, post it.

- Overall, I'm getting more callbacks and booking more jobs. I think I have finally settled into the idea that I am an actor and a comedian, and I freelance in advertising to pay the bills. That might sound obvious, but up until recently, I was a guy who worked in advertising who did comedy and went on auditions. It might seem like a minor change, but trust me it's huge.
Now, all I need is a good agent to send me out for film and tv work. But it'll happen. And now I can say that and really mean it.

Back to my filthy neighbors. Is it a truly funny situation, or is it one of those "you have to be there" kind of things? I'll think about it.
