Scott Baio is 45… and kind of interesting.

I really, really, REALLY hate reality shows. Cannot watch them, even for a second. Why? Because I hate the idea of "real" people on television. Call me old-fashioned, but when I turn on my TV, I want to see trained actors performing a well-written script of some kind. I do not want to see fat, ugly, ill-mannered rubes sweat and claw their way to 15 seconds of non-fame. And let's face it: these dopes haven't been real in years. They're all acting, just without the talent. I don't care how much stand-up material I'm missing by not giving a rat's ass about The Apprentice or Wife Swap. No joke is worth sitting through that horse shit.

But I did decide to give Scott Baio's new show a chance. When I was a kid, I kind of identified with him... Italian kid from Brooklyn goes to Hollywood and gets famous... I was totally behind that idea. We even went to the same high school, although we didn't cross paths due to him being much older than me. Okay, 5 years older.

I thought the concept behind his show was original and seemed like it could be decent. I watched my first episode earlier tonight and I got a real kick out of it. He seems to be genuinely asking real questions about his life and why he acts the way he does. And from what I saw, he's not preoccupied with coming off "cool." Which is kind of cool. His group of close friends, however, really "need a beatin'", as we like to say in Kings County. It'll be interesting to see how Mr. Baio fares in the rest of the episodes. Although it's hard to feel too sorry for him, based on his romantic history. But still, I wish him well. Maybe I'll even pick up some pointers.
